Societas - Sustainability Flagship Event 2026 is a national-level case competition hosted by XLRI as part of Ensemble Valhalla 2026, the institute's flagship business festival. The event challenges India's brightest management and technology students to design strategies that make businesses greener, more responsible, and more competitive.
What it is Societas is a two-round sustainability challenge where teams tackle real-life industrial problems and build solutions that turn sustainability from a tertiary duty into a core business strength. The framing is deliberately commercial: how do you unlock the potential of sustainability to add to your top line, and how do you differentiate your business model from competitors to gain a competitive advantage?
Who it's for The competition is open to teams of 2 to 4 members, all of whom must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate program at the time of submission. Multiple teams from the same college are allowed, but all members of a team must be from the same college and pursuing the same degree. A student cannot be part of more than one team.
Round 1 - Sustainability Quiz A 20-minute multiple-choice quiz testing knowledge of sustainability concepts and technology understanding. Teams are scored on accuracy and speed, with no negative marking for incorrect answers. Ties are broken by total points earned and submission time.
Round 2 - Case Study Teams receive a case by email to the team leader's registered email ID and must submit an innovative solution as a PPT (maximum 5 slides) or PDF/Word file. The final presentation is held live during Ensemble Valhalla 2026 in a virtual format. Final PPT and supporting documents must be submitted before the presentation, with the naming convention EV2026_<Team Name>.
Prizes Winner - Rs 50,000. Total prize pool: Rs 50,000.
Team Size: 2-4 Registration Deadline: 2026-11-30
