The XCITE Rural Business Incubation Programme, spearheaded by the XLRI Council for Innovation Technology & Entrepreneurship (XCITE) and supported by NABARD, is designed to nurture and accelerate early-stage rural enterprises. This first cohort specifically targets ventures led by women, tribal communities, and those operating in rural areas across the Eastern and North-Eastern states of India. The program aims to foster sustainable economic development by empowering entrepreneurs focused on critical sectors such as agriculture, non-timber forest produce, circular economy, and rural value chains including handicrafts and livelihoods. High-potential enterprises may also be considered for additional funding up to ₹10 lakhs through equity or debt instruments.

Applications will undergo a rigorous screening process by the XCITE team and subject matter experts. This evaluation will assess ventures based on the strength of their business model, market potential, proposed social impact, and the founding team's experience and commitment. Shortlisted candidates may then be invited for an interview or a detailed presentation of their venture to a distinguished selection committee, comprising representatives from XLRI, NABARD, and experienced industry mentors. Final selection will be based on a holistic assessment of these factors, ensuring alignment with the program's objectives of fostering sustainable rural and inclusive entrepreneurship.

What is the maximum grant amount available?
You can receive up to ₹5 lakh as a milestone-linked seed grant. Additionally, high-potential ventures may be considered for up to ₹10 lakh in equity or debt support.
Who is eligible to apply for this program?
Entrepreneurs aged 18-55 are eligible, provided their business has an annual turnover under ₹20 lakh and is located or proposed in Tier 2, 3, 4 cities, or a rural area. At least one founder must be from one of the 12 Eastern and North-Eastern states of India.
Are there any regional restrictions for businesses?
Yes, your business must have its operations or demonstrate clear impact within the Eastern or North-Eastern regions, which include states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
