AgHub is the agri and food innovation hub of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) in Hyderabad. It runs an incubator on a hub and spoke model: one innovation hub on the university campus and three rural innovation spokes across Telangana. The hub takes food and agritech startups and student entrepreneurs from across India, and its spokes work with rural entrepreneurs in Telangana.

How the programmes work

The incubation programme gives early stage startups customised mentoring. The hub says it covers technology, business, go-to-market, compliance and funding. Founders also get scientific mentoring and access to the university's laboratories and testing facilities.

The Agritech Innovation Pilots programme tests startup technologies at grassroots level. Domain experts check the technology, and farmers test it in the field. The programme page lists cohorts 2, 3 and 4.

The rural innovation spokes help rural innovators, farmers and farmer producer organisations turn ideas into enterprises. Their support covers incubation, technology demonstrations, research support, capacity building, bootstrap grants and market linkages. Agritech Market Access Programs (AgMAP) help startups validate and scale solutions under real farming conditions.

Who it serves

The innovation hub takes food and agritech startups and student entrepreneurs. The spokes serve rural youth, women, grassroots innovators, farmers and farmer producer organisations in Tier-II and Tier-III towns of Telangana. The spokes' work covers farm mechanisation, precision agriculture, natural farming, aquaculture, waste management, natural dye textiles, drone services and agricultural marketing.

Facilities

The hub rents co-working space. Founders get access to laboratories and testing facilities through the university, along with scientific mentoring and expertise.

Scale and track record

The hub's website reports 124+ startups nurtured, 3650+ design thinkers and 10000+ farmers reached. These are the hub's own counts, and the site gives no date for them. AgHub was established in October 2020 at PJTAU with NABARD support. Its rural spokes have been functionally active since 2022.

Who runs it

AgHub is run by PJTAU. NABARD has granted financial support to the hub under its Rural Business Incubation Scheme, and the hub describes itself as a NABARD-supported rural business incubator.
