Alagappa University has adopted 91 villages (each of the 44 University Departments, 2 constituent Colleges, and 45 Affiliated Colleges) under a 'one unit - one village' scheme. Final year UG and PG students participate in this program for three days every year in the last week of September in selected villages in Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts. Major activities include socio-economic surveys, environmental awareness, health & hygiene, medical camps & blood donation, cleaning works, yoga training, coaching & skill training for school students, women empowerment programs, and tree plantation. The program has spanned across 31 locations in Sivagangai district, with an average of 1375 second-year post graduate students and 41 faculty members as participants, providing hands-on exposure to village dynamics and empowering villagers.
