AVN Institute of Engineering and Technology (AVNIET) runs an incubation unit on its campus at Ibrahimpatnam, in Telangana, near Hyderabad. The institute is an autonomous college, affiliated to JNTU Hyderabad and approved by AICTE. Its incubation unit helps students, faculty and aspiring entrepreneurs turn new ideas into products and businesses.

What the incubation unit offers

The unit gives technical guidance, mentoring and infrastructure support so that innovators can build their products and services. Support covers idea validation, market research and business model work. It also covers business plans, pitches and connections to investors. The unit runs workshops, seminars and training courses on entrepreneurship and startup development.

How the process works

A founder starts with a new business idea or a problem to solve. The team then runs market research and validation to check that the idea is original and viable. The idea needs approval from the incubation unit before development begins. During development the team sends weekly status updates and progress reports for feedback. The final step is to submit a proof of concept or a finished product, along with the milestones reached.

The innovation and startup policy describes three stages of support: pre-incubation for students and faculty with ideas, incubation for early-stage startups, and acceleration for validated products that are ready to scale.

Facilities

The campus has a prototyping and project lab and an IDEA Lab funded through AICTE. A Center for Chip Design gives students access to licensed industry-standard design tools under the MeitY C2S initiative. Centres of excellence in Robotics and Drone Technology and in the Intelligent Internet of Things (IIoT) are also on campus. The Robotics and Drone centre was sponsored by e-Yantra at IIT Bombay.

Other startup activity

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship gives students a platform for startup initiatives and entrepreneurial leadership. A product-based startup scheme has allotted internal seed funding to student and faculty product projects. AVNIET also hosts MSME idea hackathons as an MSME Host Institute. The most recent registration date on the homepage was 14 July 2026, so that round is closed.

Networking and intellectual property

The startup policy says the institute will hold networking events, conferences and industry interactions to introduce startups to investors, customers and partners. It also says the institute will support patent filing, trademark registration and copyright registration for startups, and will help startups apply for government programmes such as Startup India and MSME schemes.

Who runs it

The unit is chaired by the institute's Principal, with a vice-chairperson, a convener and an incubation co-ordinator, all faculty members. Department co-ordinators and student co-ordinators support the unit's day-to-day work.

Vision and mission

The unit's stated vision is to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and product developers by turning innovative ideas into viable ventures, through expert mentorship and access to technology facilities. Its mission is to nurture innovative startups with infrastructure, mentorship and access to funding and resources. It also aims to bring academia, industry and government closer together, so that ideas from the campus can reach the market.
