About IIT Madras Incubation Cell

IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC), established in December 2013 as a Section 8 company, is India's largest deeptech startup hub. The incubation cell has crossed the 500-startup milestone and became the first institution in India to incubate over 100 deeptech startups in a single financial year during 2024-25. Startups founded by IIT Madras students, faculty, and alumni account for 39% of the portfolio, while 61% come from across India.

IITMIC provides startups with access to IIT Madras's world-class research infrastructure, laboratory facilities, and domain expertise across engineering and science disciplines. The incubation cell supports ventures spanning robotics, artificial intelligence, space technology, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy. Its location within the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai provides a unique ecosystem where startups co-exist with corporate R&D centres and academic researchers.
