Choose the right programme

The Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) at SGT University, Gurugram, is the university's incubation centre for startups and innovators. It runs from the campus at Budhera, on Gurugram-Badli Road, and is led by a director with a separate chief executive.

The centre's own pages describe it as a holistic ecosystem for startups. It houses the startups it takes on, gives them guidance and mentoring, and offers a list of support at one point, so that a founder can grow towards an independent venture.

How the incubation programme works

The main programme is Startup Incubation. Applications are accepted throughout the year, so there is no fixed deadline. Once a startup is selected, incubation support is usually offered for an initial 12 months. The centre can extend it by another 12 months, at its own discretion, based on progress and need.

Support includes mentoring from domain experts, access to laboratories and infrastructure, co-working space, and technical guidance. Business development help covers marketing, investor and industry networking, seed funding opportunities, student intern support, and a regular run of workshops, training and expert sessions.

The centre's programmes page also lists three other named programmes with an apply link: Startup Development Program 2.0, AI Enablement for MSMEs Programme 2026, and Student Innovator Program. The page gives no description for the first two. The Student Innovator Program link opens a reporting form for schools already taking part, so ask the centre before using it.

Who can apply

The centre says its programme objective is to offer an opportunity for students, researchers, or any individual or group of individuals to ideate and design solutions. Its aim is to bring youth ideas into an open discussion, allocate resources and build the spirit of entrepreneurship.

The pages read do not restrict incubation to SGT University students or to founders in one state. They also do not state a fixed eligibility test, so a founder should ask the centre directly before applying.

Scale and track record

The programmes page gives self-reported counters: more than 100 startups and innovators incubated, more than 600 young innovators trained, more than 150 in women empowerment, and more than 19 industry partners. It also reports more than 50 jobs created. The page does not date these figures.

The centre lists six startups in its portfolio, including Sumiom Innovation, Herbchick F&B, Daksh Foods, Dairy Diva, Kshitiz Millets and Womenasticco. Several portfolio startups are shown as having received grant support, including through the AIM Community Innovator Fellowship. Womenastic was recognised among the top six youth-led sustainability startups at the UNDP Youth Co National Innovation Challenge 2026.

Recognition

The centre states that it is supported and recognised by NITI Aayog. A press release from November 2023 reported the centre's launch at SGT University with NITI Aayog support.

Who runs it

Amrit Chawla is the centre's director. Rishi Sharma is listed as chief executive officer, and Chetna Arora as the convenor of the university's Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), which the university set up under the Ministry of Education's innovation scheme. The centre's mentor roster includes senior professionals from business, healthcare, clean energy and the development sector.
