About
The OneJourney Mobility Hackathon 2026, organized by SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) in collaboration with OneJourney, invites college students across India to reimagine urban
mobility and daily commute. This hackathon aims to unearth innovative solutions for real-world problems in India's dynamic transportation landscape, with a special focus on leveraging AI and enhancing women's safety. Who Should Apply This hackathon is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate college students across India. Participants can form teams of 1 to 4 members. Inter-college and inter-specialization teams (e.g., Engineering, Design, MBA) are highly encouraged, fostering diverse perspectives and skill sets. Individual participation is also welcomed. Tracks & Themes Participants are encouraged to develop solutions within the following key areas: Smart Multi-Modal Journey Planner: Design intelligent systems for planning and booking combined journeys using various public and private transport modes. Women Safety & Secure Commute: Create innovative solutions to enhance safety and security for women during their daily commutes. Carbon Reduction & Green Mobility: Develop tools and incentives to promote low-carbon and eco-friendly commuting habits. Transparent Pricing & No-Surge Systems: Engineer fair and transparent pricing models that eliminate surge pricing and arbitrary cash demands. Real-time Public Transport Integration: Build unified systems for real-time tracking and integration of MTC buses, Metro, and local trains. Driver Experience & Earnings Platform: Innovate solutions to improve the earnings, experience, and satisfaction of drivers within the mobility ecosystem. Open Innovation in Mobility: Propose any creative and impactful solution addressing major problems in urban daily commuting. Hackathon Format & Process The competition unfolds in three distinct rounds: Round 1: Idea Submission: Teams submit a detailed idea proposal, including the problem statement, proposed solution, tech stack, and team details. Top 50–80 teams will be shortlisted. Round 2: Prototype Development: Shortlisted teams will build a working prototype or Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Submissions require a GitHub link, a 3–5 minute demo video, and a presentation. Round 3: Grand Finale (Live Online): The top 10–12 teams will present their solutions live to a panel of judges, followed by an 8-minute presentation and a 5-minute Q&A session. Winners will be announced on the same day. Prizes & Opportunities Beyond the competitive experience, participants stand to gain significant career advantages: Winner: Internship opportunity at OneJourney for the winning team, along with a chance to receive Pre-Placement Interviews (PPIs) and other job & internship opportunities. 1st Runner-Up & 2nd Runner-Up: Excellence Certificates. All Participants: Certificate of Participation for all teams that successfully submit in Phase 2. Networking: Direct access to industry experts, founders, and AI practitioners. Eligibility Open to all college students (Undergraduate & Postgraduate) across India. Teams must consist of 1 to 4 members.
