Results and shortlist Shortlisted ideas will be announced on the SIH portal and emailed to teams. Per the guidelines, 4 to 5 teams per problem statement may be selected for the Grand Finale.
Who can take part Students only, through their college. Students cannot register directly: the college's SPOC (single point of contact) registers and nominates teams after an internal hackathon. A team has 6 members including the leader, all from the same college, with at least one female member, and can include up to 2 faculty or industry mentors. A college can nominate up to 50 teams (45 shortlisted plus 5 waitlisted) and a university up to 100.
How ideas are submitted The team leader submits an idea title, description and presentation (PDF) on the SIH portal. A team can submit ideas against at most 2 problem statements, and each problem statement closes after 500 ideas.
How ideas are judged Novelty, complexity, clarity and detail in the prescribed format, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work.
Grand Finale Held offline at nodal centres; teams travel to their centre. The problem statement organisation makes the final decision and does not have to declare a winner unless proposals meet its expectations.
