Feature Creep Chaos is a software development competition held as part of Saturnalia 2026, the annual techno-cultural festival of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala. TIET is one of India's established engineering institutions, and Saturnalia is its flagship student-run festival, drawing participants from colleges across the region for a mix of technical and cultural events.
What it is
This is a build-under-pressure coding challenge. Teams are given an application to build, and while they work, the "client" keeps sending new requirements in waves - the classic feature creep scenario every developer and product team knows. Success depends on adaptability, project planning, and keeping software quality intact as demands shift.
Who it's for
Open to all students with basic coding skills. Teams of 2 to 4 members. Any language or framework is permitted, so participants can work in whatever stack they are comfortable with.

Registration
Registration fee is 100 per participant. Registration is completed through the Unstop platform, after which the organising team shares updates and further instructions. All registration payments are made through the official Saturnalia website (saturnalia.in), and prize money updates are published exclusively there. The registration deadline is 19 November 2026.
Why it matters
For student developers and aspiring founders, this is a practical exercise in the reality of shipping software: scope changes, shifting priorities, and the discipline of maintaining quality while adapting. It is a useful proving ground for anyone who wants to work in product teams or start their own.
