About K.RAMAKRISHNAN COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

K.Ramakrishnan College of Technology (KRCT) is an autonomous engineering college in Samayapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. Its startup incubator, KR Startup Incubation and Innovation Foundation (KR-SIIF), supports student, alumni and faculty founders. KR-SIIF was incorporated as a Section 8 not-for-profit company in 2023, and it grew out of the college's Entrepreneurship Development Cell, EDC-KRCT.

How the programme works

KR-SIIF offers incubation and pre-incubation support, facility creation and mentorship that pairs student founders with experienced entrepreneurs. The work builds on EDC-KRCT, the college entrepreneurship cell. The cell runs awareness camps, skill and entrepreneurship development programmes, faculty development programmes, idea hackathons and business-plan workshops. Many of these are held with EDII-TN, the Tamil Nadu state entrepreneurship agency.

Seed grants come through outside schemes. The incubator says its ventures have received grants through EDII-TN, CCS-NIAM Jaipur, VITTBI's NIDHI-PRAYAS scheme, BIRAC E-YUVA and StartupTN. The college is also named as an MSME Host Institute. The institute's own material gives 2024 as the year of that recognition, while its activity log records a Host Institute inspection in July 2023.

Who can apply

The incubator's call to action is open to the college community: "Whether you're a 1st-year hackathon hopeful or a final-year almost-founder — drop a line." The people it supports are described as students, alumni and faculty founders. Ideas are first sent by email to edc@krct.ac.in, and the incubator says mentors and KR-SIIF reply within 48 hours. No separate eligibility criteria are published, so ask the team what they need before you pitch.

Its activity log shows students from many departments, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Ventures

KR-SIIF lists its ventures by name, with the founder's department and year. Its ventures work across AI, agri-tech, manufacturing, mobility and clean-tech. Published counts of ventures and of seed grants raised differ between the incubator's own pages, so this description does not give a single figure. Ask the incubator for the current count before you rely on one.

Recent activity

The cell's activity log runs from 2023 to 2026 and shows a steady run of work. Recent entries include a Business Model Canvas workshop in February 2026, which the cell says ten student startup ventures took part in. In the same year the cell took part in the MSME Idea Hackathon, with ideas from students, faculty and entrepreneurs judged by theme experts and industry members, and it joined state-run idea screening camps and pitch events hosted by EDII-TN.

The cell also runs an Entrepreneurship Induction Programme for first-year students. Its awareness camps have reached second-year students from several departments. The cell also helps founders with product identification, market survey and research tools, and the project and technical-feasibility reports a new venture needs.

Facilities and services

Beyond mentorship, the incubator provides technical support and business guidance.

Who runs it

KR-SIIF's CEO is Mr. G. Arun Kumar. Two incubation managers, Mrs. R. Jasmine and Mr. N.T. Sri Sharabesh, handle day-to-day work. A committee of ten faculty members drives EDC-KRCT and nominates startups for state and national grant programmes.

Location

KR-SIIF and the college are at Kariyamanikam Road, Samayapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu 621 112. The college was founded in 2010, is an autonomous institution, and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
