About K.S.RANGASAMY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

KSRCT, the K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, runs two incubation centres that take in early technology ventures: the MSME Business Incubator (MSME-BI) and the ACIC-KSRCT Incubation Foundation. Both sit on the autonomous college campus in Tiruchengode, Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu. The college was established in 1994 and is part of the K.S.R. Educational Institutions.

How the programmes work

Both centres work under one incubation policy, dated May 2025. Admission has three steps: an application form, a business plan covering the first twelve months of incubation, and a presentation before the Apex Committee. The committee confirms admission only after it has screened the business plan and the presentation.

By default an incubation runs for twelve months. The Apex Committee can extend it to eighteen months. After that, an incubatee who wants to stay can take six more months at non-subsidised running costs, with committee approval, and then must leave.

Incubatees pay a refundable security deposit and an annual registration fee. The centre takes a share of the revenue the incubatee earns from its services for three years after graduation. Virtual incubation is offered too, and it does not require the security deposit.

Who can apply

Applications are made in the name of a registered, unlisted company. Founders who have not yet registered can apply in their own names, but must register the company within four months of approval.

The centres are open to anyone with an idea that can make a difference. Students of the college, past and present, get preference in admission. The policy also reserves half of the occupancy for rural and tribal youth and women.

ACIC-KSRCTIF focuses on innovations by and for underserved people, including rural farmers, women, poultry farmers, SC/ST communities, first graduates and tribal communities. Its proposed domains are agriculture, food technology, poultry, textile product development, social forestry, mechanisation and IoT. Community-based social enterprises can be exempted from the security deposit by the Apex Committee.

The two centres

The MSME Business Incubator was set up under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and its page gives the approval reference HIBITN000909. It provides space, equipment, a lab and auxiliary support for founders turning ideas into knowledge-based MSMEs. The centre has been selected for a government grant to buy plant, machinery and hardware for its incubates.

ACIC-KSRCTIF is a registered section 8 company, set up in 2023. Its own page describes it as a body for grassroots innovation and indigenous knowledge. It aligns its work with the 17 UN sustainable development goals, with a focus on agriculture, food, poultry and IoT.

Facilities

Incubates can rent office space, internet and furniture from the centre on a pay-per-use basis, along with shared infrastructure. Monthly rent is set by the college.

MSME Idea Hackathon

The MSME Idea Hackathon runs in numbered editions, from 1.0 to 5.0 on the college's page. Selected ideas receive grants for implementation. The call for the fourth edition, posted in September 2024, was open to students, faculty, supporting staff, alumni, MSME industries and any individuals aged 18 to 35.

Scale

The college's pages do not agree on the numbers. The ACIC tile counts 17 incubatees. A list of MSME incubates is numbered to 22 startups, and a separate startup details list has 13 entries. The hackathon tiles show 17 selected ideas across the editions. The 3.0 women's edition is shown with 4 ideas on one tile, while its own text describes two funded projects. These counts are unreconciled.
