About Birla Institute of Management Technology

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) is a PGDM and MBA business school on Knowledge Park 2 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Its Atal Incubation Centre, AIC-BIMTECH, is an incubator run from the campus, and this page covers that incubator. The school itself is the academic body; the incubator is the part a founder applies to.

How the programmes work

AIC-BIMTECH runs four stages. KHOJ is a zero-equity virtual pre-incubation programme for people with an early business concept who need to test it. PRARAMBH is for startups that have completed KHOJ or have a validated MVP, and offers mentorship, legal entity registration help, product development support and co-working space. GURUKUL is an acceleration programme for startups that already earn revenue, focused on sales and market expansion. UDAAN is the funding track for growth-stage founders, connecting them to angel networks, venture funds and government grant schemes.

The school's pages give different lengths for PRARAMBH and GURUKUL, so this page does not state one.

Who can apply

The programmes are sector-agnostic. Early conceptual ideas are welcome for KHOJ, and post-MVP products are preferred for incubation. The company should be a Private Limited company or in the process of incorporation, and should have, or be eligible for, DPIIT recognition under Startup India.

A separate route runs through the Ministry of MSME's MSME Idea Hackathon, with AIC-BIMTECH as the Host Institute. It is open to students with a college ID, to MSME units registered on Udyam, and to individual innovators who are Indian citizens aged 18 to 60.

Grant support

Selected ideas on the MSME route can receive grant support, paid in tranches against prototype milestones. The centre describes this support as equity-free. The centre also states that it was empanelled as an incubator under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme in 2021, and that applications to that scheme are now closed.

Facilities

The centre offers co-working space, a physical prototyping lab, maker-lab testing, seminar halls and meeting rooms. Its pages describe the floor area differently, so no single figure is given here.

Scale and track record

The two sites give different counts. The school's site cites over 400 startups and 4,000 jobs, while the centre's own site cites 500+ startups and 7,000+ jobs. The two also differ on the total raised by supported startups. All of these are self-reported and none has been checked independently, so treat them as the centre's own claims.

Who backs it

The centre is supported by the Atal Innovation Mission under NITI Aayog, and its pages also name Startup India, MeitY Startup Hub, Start in UP and the Ministry of MSME. Its operating team includes a programme manager, a head of finance and associates, and it lists an advisory panel drawn from industry, venture capital and government.

Locations

The incubator campus is on the second floor of BIMTECH, Plot No. 5, Knowledge Park 2, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh 201306.
