IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park, called REP, is the incubator of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar in Odisha. The institute set it up as a Section 8 company, and it was established in 2017. It runs the technology business incubation for the institute from its campus at Samantapuri, Arugul, Bhubaneswar.
How the programmes work
REP runs incubation in two stages. Pre-incubation lasts 3 months. Incubation runs for 18 - 36 months. Pre-incubation gives startups co-working space, mentorship, networking support, milestone planning, access to funds, and help with company registration. Incubation adds office infrastructure, laboratory and workshop access, technology validation, mentoring from industry experts and faculty of the institute, showcases to investors and customers, and investor connects.
REP also runs the TomorrowLAB Accelerator Programme with Tata Steel and India Accelerator. It is a 6 months accelerator for early-stage startups. Its last application window has closed.
Who can apply
The incubation programme is for early-stage startups and entrepreneurs from diverse industries, with a focus on technology. REP's startup policy names three groups it covers: startups under incubation at REP, startups pursuing commercialisation in technology domains, and startups co-founded by IIT Bhubaneswar researchers, with or without outside founders. Other startups are taken up case by case. Applicants submit a proposal, and an evaluation team reviews it.
Facilities
Incubatees can use furnished, semi-furnished or unfurnished office space, electricity and water, internet and Wi-Fi, a shared conference hall and discussion rooms, a printing facility, and laboratory and workshop facilities. Selected startups can receive a seed grant. REP also facilitates bank loans, holds workshops with angel investors and venture capitalists, and offers legal and financial advice from empanelled consultants.
