RIDE Incubator

Which route to use

• The main door is the RIDE incubation programme. It runs on a rolling basis, so there is no single annual deadline to wait for — you apply when you are ready.
• RIDE HACK, its nationwide hackathon, is the other way in. It is aimed at students, faculty and first-time founders, and the strongest teams can be taken into incubation. It runs in editions rather than continuously, so check whether one is open.
• If you are a student who wants startup experience rather than a company of your own, RIDE invites students to join its portfolio startups as contributors. That is a separate ask, made by email.

How applications work

• Applying starts with the Apply Now button on RIDE's own site, which opens a short enquiry form. There is no separate applicant portal or login.
• You can also write to contact@incubator-ride.com or call the number on their contact page. Faculty offering to mentor, and students asking to join a startup, should use ride@mail.jiit.ac.in instead.
• Because the first step is an enquiry rather than a long form, expect the real detail to be asked for in follow-up. Have a short written description of the problem, your solution, your team and where you have got to.

What reviewers look for

• The potential of the idea, and whether it addresses a real problem rather than an interesting one.
• The strength of the team and the mix of technical and business skill in it.
• Founder mindset and commitment to building a company over years, not a demo.
• Mentor fit — whether someone on RIDE's side can genuinely help with your specific work. Naming the kind of technical guidance you need helps here.

Before you apply

• Be clear that you are still early. RIDE says it is built for founders refining product and market fit, and shapes its support around that rather than around a fixed curriculum.
• Know what the twelve months are for. By Demo Day, RIDE expects user interviews and experiments behind you, a clear view of your market and user, a working prototype or minimum viable product, and the start of sales, partnerships or pilots.
• Understand the investment terms before you sign. RIDE takes no equity when you join and invests through compulsorily convertible debentures that convert at your first external round, with a valuation floor and cap and a discount. Get that read by someone who knows convertible instruments.
• If you are already in another accelerator, say so. RIDE allows it, subject to approval, and it is better raised up front.
• If your work needs hardware, say which facility you would use — the fabrication lab, the VLSI lab, the robotics and microcontroller labs, the wind engineering centre or the supercomputer. Matching your build to what is on the campus is a concrete argument in your favour.

RIDE is the startup incubator of Jaypee Edusphere, run out of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT) in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It backs early-stage, technology-first founders, and its own pages say it welcomes founders from all backgrounds across India, so you do not have to be a Jaypee student or alumnus to apply. JIIT's website links to it as the group's incubator, and the people running it are the Associate Deans for Innovation at three Jaypee universities.

What the incubation programme offers

The RIDE programme runs on a rolling basis for twelve months, ending in a Demo Day the following September. Selected founders get one-on-one mentoring from professors, investors and senior operators, plus regular cohort check-ins. There are classes on the basics of running a startup, including how investors think, go-to-market strategy and simple financial management. Startups get a desk in a co-working space and access to the labs on campus, and RIDE offers guidance on incorporation, intellectual property, legal work and compliance where a team needs it. At Demo Day, teams pitch to a group of investors and ecosystem partners RIDE brings in. Startups may also get the chance to pilot what they have built with Jaypee Group companies, though RIDE says this depends on relevance and approval.

RIDE invests in its startups through compulsorily convertible debentures, with a valuation floor and cap and a discount at the next round. It says it takes no equity at the point of joining, and that its stake converts to equity only when a startup closes its first external funding round. Until then, founders keep full ownership. Unusually for an incubator, RIDE lets founders take part in other accelerators at the same time, subject to its approval.

RIDE is clear about what it expects back. By Demo Day, a team should have run user interviews and experiments, be able to explain its total addressable market and its user, have a working prototype or minimum viable product, and have started early sales, partnerships or go-to-market pilots. The aim it sets is early product-market fit and clarity on who the customer is.

Who can apply

RIDE says it welcomes founders from all backgrounds across India. The teams it is looking for are early-stage, with a mix of technical and business skill, working on a real problem. It describes itself as built for founders who are still refining their product and market fit, rather than for companies that already have that figured out.

Nothing on RIDE's pages sets an incorporation requirement, an age or category gate, or a rule that the founders must be attached to a Jaypee institution. Students and alumni are named as one audience, but so are outside founders, and the eligibility line is written for all of them. If your team is incorporated or not yet incorporated, it is worth asking, because RIDE lists incorporation help as one of the things it does.

How selection works

RIDE says it selects on the potential of the idea, the strength of the team, the founder's mindset, whether a mentor on its side is a good fit for the work, and how committed the team is to building for the long term. It says explicitly that it cares about company building rather than pitch decks and demos, so a polished deck with nothing behind it is unlikely to carry an application.

Facilities and labs

Incubated startups get a co-working space. Beyond that, RIDE opens up the engineering infrastructure on the Jaypee campus: an in-house supercomputer it calls Ramanujan Universe, used for AI and machine learning work; robotics and microcontroller labs for prototyping and experiments; a wind engineering centre for hardware and climate-related testing; a fabrication lab for rapid prototyping and product development; and a VLSI lab for chip design, testing and semiconductor work. For a hardware or deep-tech team in Delhi NCR, that mix of fabrication, electronics and compute in one place is the main reason to look at RIDE.

Startups it has backed

RIDE names fifteen startups on its portfolio page. They cover more ground than the institute's IT reputation suggests: Irrigreat Agri Solutions on sensor-driven irrigation, Novatri on digital IC testing, Brahmashira Technologies on a wearable emergency alarm, Biocanvas on personalised healthcare, Flextraff on adaptive traffic signals, Gratify Ventures on a waste-segregating smart bin, AromaIQ on connected scent diffusers, Quizera AI and EduNiquEst in education, Aaroh AI in music learning, Glam Ai in AR styling, Notrex Creatives in gaming and esports, Naapjhok in made-to-measure clothing, Adwicorp Services in devotional content, and Tangle Connect in residential community apps. Each named startup is listed with the professor mentoring it. RIDE publishes no total count of startups supported, so fifteen is simply the number of names on that page when we checked.

Who runs it

RIDE lists five people. Manu Bhaskar Gaur is described as Chief Executive Officer of JIIT Online. Janam Mehta is an investor with over ten years in venture capital; one page describes the role at JSW Ventures in the present tense and another as a past role. Prof. Mukesh Saraswat is Associate Dean for Innovation at JIIT Noida, Prof. Shruti Jain holds the same post at Jaypee University of Information Technology in Waknaghat, and Dr. Nishant Shrivastava is Associate Dean and Head at Jaypee University, Anoopshahr. RIDE also invites faculty to volunteer as mentors and students to join its portfolio startups as contributors, both through its institute inbox.

RIDE HACK and events

RIDE runs a nationwide hackathon called RIDE HACK, open to students, faculty, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs. The 2025 edition closed registrations on 30 September 2025 and ran on 15 November 2025, with cash prizes, mentoring and an incubation route for the strongest teams. No 2026 edition had been announced when we checked, so treat it as recurring rather than currently open.

What RIDE does not claim

RIDE states no government recognition of any kind on its site. It is not described as a DST-recognised technology business incubator, an Atal Incubation Centre, or a MeitY or state-backed centre, and we found no such claim to verify. JIIT separately runs an Institution's Innovation Council under the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, but that is a campus innovation body, not the incubator, and it is not an accreditation for RIDE.
