Build Your Bharat (BYB) is a pan-India initiative by Next Bharat Ventures — the Suzuki Innovation Centre — aimed at encouraging students to identify real-world challenges faced by communities across India and develop innovative, scalable solutions through impact entrepreneurship. The initiative runs with partner institutes, beginning in Hyderabad, and culminates in an 8-hour hackathon on 21 November at the Suzuki Innovation Centre (SIC) at IIT Hyderabad.
Who Should Apply The hackathon is open to students interested in building their own startups, as well as committed founders — including students and recent graduates — who are already developing a startup. Teams must have 3 to 5 members.
Focus Areas Participants are asked to work on societal challenges across three tracks:
Format & Timeline The programme is a multi-stage competition. Interested teams first submit an idea deck along with a 3–5 minute video explaining the problem, the proposed solution, and any groundwork or prototype developed. The idea submission deadline is 8 November 2026, and shortlisted teams are announced on 14 November 2026. Shortlisted teams then compete in the 8-hour hackathon on 21 November 2026 at the Suzuki Innovation Centre, IIT Hyderabad.
As part of the initiative, two talks on impact entrepreneurship are also scheduled: on 4 November at IIT Hyderabad with Mr. Vipul Nath Jindal (CEO, Next Bharat Ventures and IIT Hyderabad alumnus) and Dr. Kishore Indukuri (Founder, Sid's Farm); and on 5 November at ICRISAT with Ms. Vachana Shetty (Head of Marketing, Next Bharat Ventures) and Mr. Anupam Shrey (Founder, Plutas.ai). The speakers will share their entrepreneurial journeys, insights into building impact-driven businesses, and perspectives on translating real-world problems into sustainable ventures.
Prizes Winning teams can gain ₹5 lakh in prize money and seed grants to kick-start their entrepreneurial journey, an opportunity to receive up to ₹1 crore in equity investment, expert mentorship and guidance, and access to the living labs of Next Bharat's Impact Entrepreneurs.
