The DevForge is a 24-hour coding marathon organised by the Scaler School of Technology (SST), Bengaluru, under the banner "Exploit the Code. Forge the Future." Teams of 2–4 developers brainstorm, design, and build innovative solutions to real-world problems under time pressure, turning bold ideas from concept into working prototypes. It is a genuine test of creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skill, run across two competitive rounds with a live Grand Stage Final.
Who Should Apply Open to college students across India. Inter-college teams are allowed, and inter-specialization teams are allowed, so students from different institutions and disciplines can combine forces. Team size must be between 2 and 4 members.
Format & Timeline The competition runs in two rounds. In Round 1, teams register online through Unstop, select one of the released problem statements, and submit a plain-text, Markdown, or PDF document covering proposed system architecture, technical implementation strategy, chosen tech stack and tooling, anticipated challenges and risk mitigation, and expected deliverables. Presentations and PPTs are not accepted for Round 1 — teams are evaluated on the quality, technical depth, feasibility, and clarity of their proposed solution. Shortlisted teams are notified by email and proceed to Round 2.
Round 2 is held completely offline on the SST campus as a 24-hour overnight hackathon. Teams develop their projects in a collaborative environment with access to mentorship, high-speed internet, and refreshments. Participants are advised to reach the venue one hour before commencement. Day 1 morning features desk-side judging including a PPT walkthrough, a live functional prototype demo, and codebase analysis. The Top 10 teams qualify as finalists and present their solutions and working prototypes before the judges on the Grand Stage Finals, where final results are decided.
Rules & Judging Participants must bring their own laptops, chargers, and devices; internet access is provided. Pre-built projects are not allowed — all code must be written during the hackathon, though libraries and frameworks are permitted. Teams must present a working prototype at the end and stay on campus for the duration of the hackathon, with food provided on campus. A Day 1 code freeze at 09:00 AM is absolute, and no further commits are considered for Round 2 evaluation. The judges' decision is final. Disqualification criteria include plagiarism or code copying, incomplete or non-functional prototypes, pre-existing projects or cloned repositories without substantial original contributions, fabricated Git history, misconduct, presenting mockups or pre-rendered videos as live working software, harassment, destruction of venue facilities, and failure to follow organiser or campus security directives.
