Wizarding Minds — Think Beyond the Ordinary is an inter-college HR and management competition hosted by HRUDAY at Jaypee Business School, JIIT Noida, built around a Harry Potter theme. It is designed for college students from all streams who want to test their knowledge, speed, creativity, strategic thinking, teamwork, and decision-making in a competitive, gamified format.

Format and Schedule

The competition runs across two stages. Day 1 (23 October 2026) is an online shortlisting round — a quiz covering the Harry Potter and Wizarding World universe, Human Resource Management, business and management, general awareness, and basic business concepts and aptitude. Teams that clear this round qualify for the on-campus main event on 24 October 2026 at Jaypee Business School, JIIT Noida.

On-Campus Rounds

Round 1 — The Owl Examination: A fast-paced rapid-fire quiz on Harry Potter, HR, management, business, and general awareness. Negative marking applies, so accuracy matters as much as speed.
Round 2 — The Wizarding Workplace: Teams step into the role of an HR manager, analyse a workplace case, and present practical, creative, and strategic solutions to a judging panel. This round tests HR knowledge, problem-solving, strategic thinking, creativity, communication, and teamwork.
Round 3 — The Hogwarts HR Challenge: The finale combines recruitment, HR strategy, budgeting, and decision-making. Teams receive a fixed budget in Galleons and take part in a magical character bidding and recruitment auction, where each character carries distinct skills, strengths, weaknesses, and workplace abilities. After the auction, teams face unexpected HR challenges covering employee dissatisfaction, compensation and salary issues, workplace conflicts, retention, performance problems, leadership and motivation, and team coordination. The team that builds the most effective magical workforce and handles every challenge with the smartest strategy wins.

First place: ₹5,000 plus a Certificate of Merit
Second place: ₹3,000 plus a Certificate of Merit
Third place: ₹2,000 plus a Certificate of Merit
Total prize pool: ₹10,000
All registered participants receive a Certificate of Participation

HRUDAY is the HR and management student body at Jaypee Business School, JIIT Noida. Jaypee Institute of Information Technology is a deemed university in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and its business school runs management programmes with a strong focus on industry-oriented, experiential learning. Competitions like Wizarding Minds are part of that effort — giving students a low-stakes, high-engagement setting to practise recruitment, compensation design, conflict resolution, and workforce planning, which are the same skills early-stage founders and HR leads apply when building their first teams.
