Hefty Hacks is a fully-online Finance × Trading hackathon presented by TechZap. Over one intense sprint, engineers, quants and designers turn market chaos into working product — trading systems, market predictors, fintech, risk engines, DeFi and everything in between.
Who Should Apply
Open to teams of 2–6 members — engineers, quants, designers, and anyone passionate about building at the intersection of finance and technology. No solo entries.
Tracks / Themes
- Finance — payments, lending, neo-banking, personal finance, fraud/AML, insurance, credit scoring, RegTech, DeFi.
- Trading — algo/HFT, futures/options, market prediction, alt-data signals, backtesting, portfolio optimization.
- Fusion — combine both tracks into something unique (sentiment-to-signal apps, on-chain quant, embedded trading).
Format & Timeline
100% online. Key milestones:
- 06 Jul: Registrations open
- 10 Oct: Idea submission deadline
- 15 Oct: Soft shortlisting
- 18 Oct: Mentor matching
- 25 Oct: Prototype checkpoint
- 31 Oct – 1 Nov: Final 36-hour hack day
- 1 Nov: Demo & judging
Judging criteria: originality of niche, technical depth, working demo, market insight.
Prizes
₹75,000 cash prize pool + free Azure credits + elite mentorship. Top 10 teams get a chance at direct hiring rounds with leading companies and startups.
