Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA 2.0) has introduced the Idea Grant scheme to provide financial assistance to innovators, entrepreneurs, and startups to help them convert their innovative ideas into full-fledged ventures. This scheme is implemented through MGUIF, the parent organization of Mahatma Gandhi University for startup-related activities and schemes.
The Idea Grant is intended to help innovators and startups to develop the prototype or product and scale up into full-fledged ventures. The total grant amount is up to ₹2 lakhs.
The competition focuses on categories including: AI and Internet of Thinking (IoT), Sustainable Technologies, Environmental Science, Healthcare, Food, Nutrition and value addition, Biotechnology, Nano Science, Tourism, and Any other relevant areas.

What is the maximum grant amount?
The total grant amount is up to ₹2,00,000.
Who is eligible to apply for the Idea Grant?
Students and faculty of MGU affiliated colleges (including those associated within the last two years), and general public innovators based in Kerala. The grant is for projects at the ideation, conceptualization, proof of concept, or minimum viable prototype stage.
What are the key benefits besides the grant?

What categories are covered?

Service projects, asset creation projects, outsourcing entire product development, directors holding more than 20% stake who have already received a grant from MGUIF for other companies, and those who have already availed an Idea Grant for the same team/product/idea are not eligible.
