About the Event
Cosmicathon is a national-level product-building hackathon organised by Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, in collaboration with Cosmic Attire and Venture Lab. Unlike ideas-only hackathons, Cosmicathon uses a three-stage filter — a screening test, a problem-video submission, and a 24-hour on-campus build — to ensure that only teams with validated problem statements and real execution capability reach the final round.
Who Should Apply
Open to students and early-stage builders across India. Teams of 1 to 4 members. Individual registrants are welcome and will be matched into teams after the screening round.
Format & Timeline
The competition unfolds in three rounds:
- Round 1: Screening Test (15th August) — An online aptitude test open to all registered candidates. Filters for baseline technical and problem-solving skills.
- Round 2: Problem Video Submission (opens 16th August) — Shortlisted teams submit a short video identifying a real-world problem within announced domains/tracks. This round tests problem-framing ability.
- Round 3: 24-Hour On-Campus Build (22nd August 1:00 PM – 23rd August 3:00 PM) — Teams arrive at TIET campus on 21st August for check-in and a welcome session. The final problem statements are disclosed only at the start of the build. Teams have 24 hours to build a working prototype, with mentors available to unblock. Judging and demos take place on 23rd afternoon, followed by the closing ceremony.
