About this competition
About the Competition
Presented by Goonj, the Dramatics Club of IIM Bangalore, in association with VENIX 2026, CurtainCall is a unique business case competition that blends the worlds of theatre and entrepreneurship. Participants step into the shoes of theatre producers and turnaround strategists, tackling the real-world tension between live stage performance and the age of streaming. The challenge is to pitch the boldest, most viable strategy for reviving live theatre — covering audience, actors, and revenue — before a panel of judges.
Who Should Apply This competition is open to students from any discipline and institution, particularly those with an interest in business strategy, entertainment, arts management, or entrepreneurship. Teams of 2 to 4 members can participate.
Format & Timeline The competition is structured in three rounds:
Round 1: Online Quiz — A fast-paced online quiz testing knowledge of music, entertainment, literature, and art. 15 multiple-choice or subjective questions covering the film, cinema, and entertainment industry.
Round 2: Case Submission — Teams receive a real-world case study about a current business problem faced by a company in the theatre/entertainment space. Teams must analyze the case, develop creative and practical solutions, and present findings in a presentation deck (maximum 5 slides excluding title slide). Up to 3 additional slides or Excel spreadsheets for data and visualizations are optional. Only the team leader submits on the designated online platform.
Round 3: On-Campus Presentation — The top teams from Round 2 present their solutions live on campus at IIM Bangalore to a panel of esteemed judges. Teams must be ready to answer questions and defend their strategy.
Prizes Winners and Runners-up receive a total prize pool of ₹10,000. Prizes worth ₹10,000 are distributed among the top teams.
Eligibility Open to all students. Teams of 2 to 4 members. No specific discipline or institution restriction.
