About this grant
The Local Transition Projects 2027 call (LTP2027) is a small-grants call from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi, funded by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It supports local non-governmental organisations in India and five neighbouring countries that work on human rights, democracy and free media. Each project can receive CZK 100,000 to 500,000 (about ₹4.2 lakh to ₹21 lakh), and applications are open until 20 November 2026.
What the program offers
The project budget must be between CZK 100,000 and CZK 500,000, which is about ₹4.2 lakh to about ₹21 lakh at the conversion used on this site. Projects run for up to 8 months, with implementation expected from 1 March 2027 to 31 October 2027. The money is tied to the activities and budget lines in the application form, which becomes part of the contract. If you want to move money between budget lines by more than 20% of the line or CZK 10,000 (whichever is higher), you need the Embassy's approval first. Work may start only after the contract is signed. Tangible outputs must carry the programme logos, and outputs such as trainings must acknowledge the Czech support, unless doing so would put your organisation, participants or the project at risk.
Who can apply
The call is for projects implemented in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives or Sri Lanka. The applicant must be a local non-governmental organisation with legal status in the country where the project happens; a local branch of an international NGO also counts. It must be able to sign a contract with the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Czech law and Czech jurisdiction. Political parties and state institutions cannot apply. In India the organisation must be eligible to receive foreign funding, which the Embassy spells out as holding a valid FCRA licence.
This call suits registered Indian NGOs, trusts and societies with FCRA clearance whose work fits one of the priority areas. It does not suit startups, companies, individuals or organisations without FCRA status. The call says it does not cover development cooperation projects.
How to apply
- Download the identification form (an Excel file) from the official call page and fill in every section in English.
- In the local currency row enter the amount in Indian rupees. Leave all the Czech crown fields blank, because the Embassy completes them at the current exchange rate.
- Have an authorised representative sign the form and stamp it where applicable.
- Attach a verified copy of your registration certificate (in English or translated), a letter or power of attorney in English showing the signatory may sign contracts, and a copy of your FCRA licence.
- Email the form and documents by 20 November 2026 to the contact address on the call page, with the Embassy's general address in copy, using the subject "LTP 2027". Include a short project description of at most 80 words in the email.
- Also post the hard copies to the Embassy in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. All communication is by email.
A practical tip: prepare the registration proof, the signatory letter and the FCRA copy first, since they need verification and are easy to miss.
How applications are judged and what happens next
The Embassy and the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs assess applications in November and December 2026. They look at relevance to human rights and democracy in the target country, the capacity and track record of the implementing organisation (including direct rather than intermediary involvement), cost-effectiveness, feasibility, quality of project design, and sustainability beyond the project. Successful projects are published on the Embassy website in January to February 2027, and the Embassy contacts and signs a contract with each successful applicant in the same period. A final report with photographs is due no later than one month after the project ends, which the call places in November 2027.
