About this subsidy
Launched in 2018 as a key component of the Goa Information Technology Policy, the Internet Subsidy Scheme aims to bolster the state's digital infrastructure and foster a conducive environment for IT businesses. The primary objective is to provide financial relief to eligible Information Technology Units by subsidizing their high-speed internet connectivity expenses. This initiative reflects Goa's vision of becoming an aspirational geographical and human resource base for IT companies, encouraging investment and expansion within the state. The scheme is designed to reduce operational costs for both new and existing IT units, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and supporting their growth within Goa's burgeoning tech ecosystem. It underscores the government's commitment to creating a preferred destination for technology-driven enterprises.
The scheme's focus on high-speed internet bandwidth acknowledges its critical role in modern business operations, particularly for IT-centric organizations. By offsetting a significant portion of these costs, the Government of Goa aims to attract new IT investments and retain existing ones, contributing to job creation and economic development. The policy is continuously monitored to ensure its effectiveness and sustained impact on the IT sector.
