HackOcean is a National-Level Online Frontend Hackathon organized by the Digital Learning Group (DLG) in collaboration with Madhav Institute of Technology & Science (MITS), Gwalior. The competition challenges participants through multiple evaluation stages that assess problem-solving ability, product thinking, UI/UX design, presentation skills, and frontend development expertise. Participants are encouraged to leverage AI-powered development tools responsibly to build innovative, high-quality solutions.
Who Should Apply
Open to Indian students, developers, and frontend enthusiasts. Teams of 1 to 4 members. Solo participants are welcome.
Tracks / Themes
Participants choose from three problem statements in Round 2:
- ABYSS – Build a landing page for a fictional deep-sea exploration company offering premium submarine adventures.
- REEF – Create an engaging landing page for a fictional ocean conservation organization.
- DeepSea Guardian – Develop an intelligent platform for monitoring deep-sea ecosystems using AI, IoT, and satellite data.
Format & Timeline
- Round 1 – Ignition (PPT Submission): Submit a presentation outlining problem understanding, solution approach, UI/UX wireframe, and creativity. Top 50 teams advance.
- Round 2 – Deep Ocean (Grand Finale): Shortlisted teams receive three frontend problem statements, choose one, and build a complete frontend solution within 12 hours. Submissions must include a GitHub repository and a live deployed URL.

Eligibility
Open to all Indian students and developers. Team size: 1–4 members. AI tools are fully allowed. Code must be written during hackathon hours. Existing website copying will result in disqualification.
