About this competition
HACKOWASP 8.0 is the eighth edition of this innovation-focused hackathon, hosted by Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology in Patiala, Punjab, India. This hybrid event, accessible both online and offline, invites tech enthusiasts, innovators, students, and professionals globally to participate in 36 electrifying hours of ideation and development. Tracks & Themes Participants can choose to build solutions across several impactful tracks:

- Open Innovation: A track for bold ideas with no specific thematic limits, encouraging boundless impact.

Format & Timeline The hackathon runs for 36 hours, starting on April 18, 2026, and concluding on April 19, 2026. An online-only orientation and team formation session will be held on April 17, 2026. The opening ceremony, hacking, and final presentations will take place on April 18th and 19th. Submissions are due by April 19, 2026, via DoraHacks and GitHub, requiring source code, brief documentation, and a 2-minute demo video. Judging criteria include innovation, impact, technical complexity, alignment with the chosen track, and presentation.
Prizes The total prize pool for HACKOWASP 8.0 is ₹6,00,000+. In addition to cash prizes, participants will receive participation certificates and exclusive networking opportunities with industry mentors and partners.
Eligibility Open to all tech enthusiasts, innovators, students, and professionals globally. Teams can consist of 1 to 5 members.
