Fallout is an on-site structural design challenge organised by the University School of Automation & Robotics (USAR) at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi, as part of the Elysian 2026 festival. It is a hands-on engineering competition where every team receives an identical kit, the same 2.5-hour build window, and a single objective: construct a bridge that carries the maximum load for the minimum weight. Every bridge is then loaded until it fails - the only question is how much it carried first.
Who It's For Open to all college students - any year, any branch, any college. Individual and team participation is allowed, with a maximum of 3 members per team. Inter-college and inter-branch teams are permitted, making it a good opportunity for students from different institutions to collaborate and compete.

How Fallout Works
Test Setup and Scoring The gap between supports is identical for every team and will be announced at the briefing. Load is applied gradually and the load held is measured on a weighing balance. Failure means the bridge breaks and the weights fall. The score is calculated as maximum load supported before failure divided by the mass of the bridge - the highest ratio wins. Strong isn't enough; a light bridge that carries the same load beats a heavy one.
Materials and Tools Materials, joining material, and tools are provided by the organisers. Every team gets an identical kit, with details shared at the briefing. Participants must not bring their own materials, tools, or pre-built parts.
Rules
What You Get Certificates, refreshments during the event, all materials and tools provided, and a live look at how your design actually behaves under load.
Registration All participants must register on Unstop before 19 October 2026, 11:59 PM. Carry your college ID on the day. A Fallout '26 WhatsApp group is available for announcements.
