What it is Shut Up & Write! Pune is a focused, community-driven writing session and the first Indian chapter of the global Shut Up & Write! movement. The format is deliberately simple: a group of writers gathers, briefly introduces what they are working on, then writes in silent, uninterrupted blocks before regrouping to share progress and connect.
Who it's for The session is open to anyone who writes for a living or as a serious pursuit - startup founders drafting pitch decks, product managers writing specs and PRDs, developers working on technical documentation, content marketers, journalists, novelists, students, and independent creators. If you have a project that keeps getting pushed to "later," this is the accountability structure that gets words on the page.
What to expect
Why the format works Shut Up & Write! began as a grassroots meetup format built on a single insight: writers are far more productive in a room of other writers than alone at a desk. The global series now runs chapters across multiple countries, and Pune's edition brings that same low-pressure, high-output structure to India's writing and startup community. There is no critique circle, no pitching, and no pressure to read your work aloud - the only expectation is that you show up and write.
Community angle Beyond the writing itself, the chapter functions as a recurring networking point for Pune's creative and professional community. Founders, freelancers, and product people regularly use these sessions to build habits, meet collaborators, and stay accountable to long-term projects. Come for the accountability, stay for the community.
Practical notes The event is free to attend. Bring a laptop, notebook, or whatever tool you write with, plus any research or reference material you need. Seats are limited by venue capacity, so early registration is recommended.
