Programmes they run
Standing programmes at Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology, separate from the funding calls above.
All four schemes are internal to the institute: the published eligibility rules limit them to enrolled students, institute interns, faculty, and start-ups already registered with the Bio Enabler Centre, and the one application form the centre publishes is headed "To be filled by Student Innovator". None publishes an intake window or a deadline. Support is reimbursement-only against original bills raised in the institute's name — no cash is disbursed at any stage — and every proposal must clear the institute's screening committee, or the E-Cell committee for the entrepreneurship scheme.
SPARK Fellowship
FellowshipThe Bio Enabler Centre's first rung, for institute students turning a concept into early experiments and a pre-prototype.
Best for: Students and student innovators of Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology with an idea at concept stage
- Idea
- Up to one year
- In person
- Free, no equity
- Grant support for selected startups
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
SPARK is where an idea from inside the institute starts. It is for work still at the concept or ideation stage, and it runs for up to a year.
What you get
- Reimbursement-based support for consumables and basic experimentation
- Support for prototype conceptualisation and design or model development
- Support for market and field validation, testing and documentation
- A named institute mentor who oversees the project's progress
Who can apply
- Enrolled UG, PG and PhD students of the institute
- Student innovators working under approved mentors of the institute
- Teams registered through institute ideation formats — ideathons, bootcamps, SPARK Tank or incubation pre-cells
- The idea must be at concept or ideation stage and not already funded under another institutional scheme
How selection works: every proposal is screened and approved by the institute's screening committee before anything proceeds. Support is released only as reimbursement, against original bills raised in the institute's name, after review by the Bio Enabler Centre office, the finance department and institute management.
How to apply: fill the application form published on the Bio Enabler Centre page. It is headed "To be filled by Student Innovator" and asks for your enrollment number, your programme, an itemised budget, a phased timeline of up to one year, and your mentor's signed approval. No intake window or deadline is published. General queries go to bibt@blalbiotech.com.
Innovator's Genesis Grant (IGG)
Grant schemeSupport for institute students and centre-registered start-ups building and validating an early proof of concept.
Best for: Institute students and start-ups already registered with the Bio Enabler Centre, at early proof-of-concept stage
- Idea – Prototype
- Up to one year
- In person
- Free
- Grant support for selected startups
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
The Innovator's Genesis Grant is the second rung of the Bio Enabler Centre's ladder. It backs idea-stage work that needs to become a demonstrable early proof of concept, and it runs for up to a year.
What you get
- Reimbursement for prototyping, materials and testing
- Support for research and development work on the approved project
- Support for building and refining an early proof of concept
Who can apply
- Enrolled students of Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology
- Start-ups already registered under the Bio Enabler Centre at the institute
How selection works: the idea is screened and approved by the designated screening committee and by institute management before anything proceeds. As with every scheme here, no cash is disbursed — support is reimbursement-only.
How to apply: there is no separate published form for this scheme; the Bio Enabler Centre page carries the scheme's rules and an application button, and the centre is the route in. No intake window or deadline is published. Queries go to bibt@blalbiotech.com.
BIOFAB Support Scheme
Grant schemeTakes a finished early proof of concept to a working prototype, for institute students and centre-registered start-ups.
Best for: Institute students and centre-registered start-ups moving from proof of concept to a working prototype
- Prototype
- Up to one year
- In person
- Free
- Grant support for selected startups
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
BIOFAB is the third rung, for teams that have already shown the science works and now need something that can be built, demonstrated and scaled.
What you get
- Reimbursement-based support for late proof-of-concept and prototype development
- Institutional guidance through the step from a working idea to a functional prototype or scalable model
- Access to the centre's laboratories and its prototype and biofabrication support
Who can apply
- Enrolled students of Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology, or a start-up already registered under the Bio Enabler Centre
- The idea must have completed early-stage proof of concept and be aimed at late-stage proof of concept or prototype development
How selection works: the proposal is screened, evaluated and approved by the designated screening committee and institute management. Work supported under the scheme must carry an acknowledgement naming the scheme and the institute.
How to apply: the centre publishes a separate application document for this scheme on its Bio Enabler Centre page. No intake window or deadline is published. Queries go to bibt@blalbiotech.com.
Campus Venture Catalyst Program (CVCP)
Grant schemeThe institute's entrepreneurship scheme for students, interns and faculty registering a company — and the one where the institute takes equity.
Best for: Students, interns and faculty of the institute ready to register a company around their idea
- Prototype – MVP
- In person
- Free, takes equity
- Grant support for selected startups
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
CVCP is the last rung, and the only one aimed at company formation rather than the science. It is run by the institute's E-Cell committee and is described as an institutional entrepreneurship scheme.
What you get
- Reimbursement-based seed support for company registration and product development
- Support for taking the venture to exhibitions, startup expos and innovation fairs
- Stall booking, demo events and product launch support through the centre's showcase activities
Who can apply
- Regularly registered students of the institute
- Institute interns
- Faculty members
- Start-up ideas already registered with the Bio Enabler Centre
- You must be registered with the institute's innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, the idea must have clear commercial or social impact potential, and you must be willing to share equity with the institute under its policy
How selection works: you submit a proposal and the grant application form to the E-Cell committee. It screens for eligibility, merit and fit with the scheme's objectives, shortlisted applicants give a structured pitch, and the committee approves on innovation potential, market feasibility, entrepreneurial commitment and social or commercial impact. Decisions are stated as final and binding.
What it costs you: the institute holds equity in the supported venture as a condition of the scheme, and anything created falls under the institute's intellectual property policy. Supported ventures file quarterly progress reports and documentation of how the support was used.
How to apply: the centre publishes a separate application document for this scheme on its Bio Enabler Centre page. No intake window or deadline is published. Queries go to bibt@blalbiotech.com.
Labs & facilities
Equipment and space on campus.
These are the Bio Enabler Centre's own laboratories and rooms on the Jaipur campus. The institute's parent clinical laboratory runs diagnostics disciplines of its own — haematology, clinical biochemistry, histopathology and the like — which are not listed here because they belong to the laboratory rather than to the incubation centre. Access follows the same campus gate as the funding schemes.
Molecular Biology Lab
For PCR, electrophoresis, gene-level studies and DNA and RNA work. Named instruments include a real-time PCR system, a thermal cycler and a microvolume spectrophotometer.
Microbiology & Fermentation Lab
Supports culture work, media preparation, pilot fermentation and microbial analytics.
Cell Culture Facility
Controlled-environment systems for mammalian cell research and testing.
BSL-2 Facility
Negative-pressure containment for moderate-risk pathogens, clinical samples and bacterial and viral cultures, with an autoclave for waste decontamination.
Analytical Instrumentation Suite
Spectrophotometers, centrifuges including a refrigerated floor model, incubators, microscopes, laminar flow hoods and autoclaves. Also listed: an automated microbial identification and susceptibility system, and a COD digestor for wastewater testing.
Prototype and Biofabrication Support
For early-stage device creation, small-scale production and experimental prototyping.
Start-up Cabinets
Individual dedicated workspaces for incubated teams, alongside a conference room, an open networking space, a library area, a cafeteria, a product gallery for displaying prototypes, and a lock-up room for secure storage.
Support services
Help offered alongside funding and space.
These are the services the Bio Innovation Incubation Centre lists as its offers. Mentorship and intellectual property support are corroborated elsewhere on the site by a named coordinator, an IP cell and a written institutional policy; the others are listed as captions with no separate process, eligibility or contact published behind them.
IP & patents
The centre has an intellectual property activity coordinator and an IP cell, and its schemes state that anything created under them is governed by the institute's own intellectual property policy, with inventorship decided by contribution and institutional norms.
Business advisory
Mentorship from institute faculty is built into the schemes — a mentor's signed approval is part of the application — and the entrepreneurship scheme adds a structured pitch session before the E-Cell committee.
Clinical trial support
Access to laboratories and hospitals, and clinical trials and validation, are listed among what the Bio Innovation Incubation Centre offers. The centre publishes no separate process or eligibility for them.
Regulatory support
Regulatory and IP support is listed among what the Bio Innovation Incubation Centre offers. As with the other listed offers, no separate process is published.
Recognitions & empanelments
Official approvals this incubator holds.
One credential is evidenced, and it is the MSME host-institute listing below. The institute holds no BIRAC relationship we could verify: BIRAC appears on its site only as the employer of a past speaker at an entrepreneurship cell event and as a supporter of a biotech conclave it co-hosted, and it is not on BIRAC's BioNEST register. It also does not appear in any of DST's five NIDHI registers — checked on 25 September 2026 against the combined TBI list (in both the host-institute and registered-entity columns), the NIDHI-PRAYAS list, the Centres of Excellence list, the Seed Support Programme list and the inclusive TBI list — and it makes no DST, NIDHI or Atal claim of its own. Every "Atal Incubation Centre" name on its pages belongs to the employer of an advisory-committee member or a past speaker. Separately, the institute states on its milestones page that it was recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation by DSIR in 2025; that is the institute's own statement, it is a research-organisation recognition rather than an incubator one, and it has not been checked against DSIR's register.
Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)
Listed at entry 89 of the Ministry's own published list of host institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology" (Jaipur, Rajasthan) — re-checked on the live register on 25 September 2026. The institute also shows an MSME logo captioned "Host Institute" on its entrepreneurship cell page. This is the status an innovator names when applying on the ministry's own portal; it is a capacity registration, not evidence the institute has hosted an approved idea. The register carries no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it.
How to apply to Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology
About Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology
Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology (BIBT)
SPARK Fellowship “Enrolled students of Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology (UG / PG / PhD)” और “Student innovators working under approved mentors of the Institute” के लिए है। केंद्र द्वारा प्रकाशित एकमात्र आवेदन फॉर्म “APPLICATION FORM (To be filled by Student Innovator)” से शुरू होता है और नामांकन संख्या, एक कार्यक्रम (UG या PG) और किसी संकाय mentor की हस्ताक्षरित स्वीकृति माँगता है।
