About this grant
The AI For Livelihoods Hackathon is part of IIMA Ventures' AI Accelerator for Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) program, supported by the Gates Foundation. Challenge makers SEWA Bharat, PRADAN and Hand in Hand India work with technology innovators to co-create practical AI solutions for women entrepreneurs, built for vernacular languages, low literacy and limited digital access.
There are four challenges:
- Business Operations – AI tools that help women entrepreneurs run their business day to day: registration, inventory, quality checks, pricing and costing, cash flow, vernacular business assistance (an AI co-pilot for the entrepreneur).
- Enterprise Productivity – AI for production and inventory planning, demand forecasting, farm and non-farm productivity, packaging and standardisation, and links to institutional buyers or FPOs.
- Growth & Market Access – AI that diagnoses growth needs, finds customers and markets, matches buyers and sellers, and supports digital marketing, quoting and negotiation.
- Finance & Government Schemes – AI that helps women entrepreneurs discover loans, grants and schemes, check eligibility, prepare applications and understand loan terms.
Winning teams receive a ₹5 lakh grant to pilot their solution with the challenge partner, and selected solutions may receive follow-up funding of up to ₹50 lakh to scale. Applications close on 19 November 2026.
