About this subsidy
The Entrepreneur Support Scheme (ESS) is a flagship initiative by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Kerala, designed to bolster Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) involved in manufacturing. Operational since April 1, 2012, this scheme provides crucial financial assistance in the form of a capital subsidy, directly proportional to the fixed capital investment made by the enterprise. The subsidy rate varies from 15% to 45% of the fixed capital investment, depending on factors such as investor category, industry sector, and district of investment, making it highly adaptable to diverse business needs across Kerala. Notably, availing a loan from a financial institution is not a mandatory prerequisite for this scheme, enhancing its accessibility for a broader range of entrepreneurs. The primary objectives of ESS are to offer extensive support to MSMEs and provide one-time financial aid to entrepreneurs, with specific provisions for special categories. This is achieved through the optimal utilization of funds and a flexible operational framework, ensuring that deserving enterprises receive the necessary impetus for growth and sustainability within the state's manufacturing sector.
