The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Promoting Telecom & Networking Products Manufacturing in India was notified by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on 24th February 2021. This strategic initiative aims to significantly boost domestic manufacturing capabilities, attract substantial investments, and enhance exports within the crucial telecom and networking products sector.

The scheme operates within an overall financial outlay of ₹12,195 Crores (Rupees Twelve Thousand One Hundred and Ninety-Five Crore) over a period of five years. A dedicated financial allocation of ₹2500 Crores has been set aside specifically for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) category, with a maximum financial allocation for MSMEs over 5 years capped at ₹1000 Crores. The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has been appointed as the Project Management Agency (PMA) responsible for the implementation and oversight of this ambitious scheme.

Effective from 1st April 2021, the scheme incentivizes investments made by successful applicants in India from this date up to Financial Year (FY) 2024-2025. Support under the scheme is provided for five years, covering the period between FY 2021-22 and FY 2026-27. The core objective is to reduce India's reliance on imports in this critical sector, promote self-reliance, and establish India as a global manufacturing hub for telecom and networking products.
