The "Capital Investment Subsidy (for New and Existing Industries)" is a key initiative under the broader program, "Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Capital Intensive Industries," implemented by the Industries and Commerce Department of the Union Territory of Puducherry. Launched on 1st April 2017, this scheme aims to bolster industrial growth across Puducherry by providing crucial financial assistance.
It offers eligible enterprises and entrepreneurs a significant subsidy of up to 45% on their investments in fixed assets, including land, buildings, and plant and machinery. The program is designed to support a wide spectrum of businesses, from Micro and Small Enterprises to Medium and Large Industries, with special incentives for units led by Women, Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) entrepreneurs.
The core objective is to reduce the financial burden associated with capital expenditure, thereby encouraging the establishment of new industrial units and facilitating the expansion or modernization of existing ones. By providing this fiscal assistance, the Puducherry government seeks to stimulate economic activity, generate employment, and create a more conducive environment for industrial development within the Union Territory.
