About this subsidy
Clause 12.8 A(3) of Punjab's Industrial and Business Development Policy 2022 gives an interest subsidy of 5% per annum to MSME units located in border districts or Kandi areas, and to women and SC enterprises anywhere in the state. The subsidy is capped at INR 5 lakh per year and runs for five years. Because location is an alternative qualifying route to ownership, a unit in a border district qualifies regardless of who owns it, and a women- or SC-owned enterprise qualifies regardless of where in Punjab it sits.

What You Get
Five percentage points of the interest bill covered each year, up to INR 5 lakh annually, for five years. It targets the two groups the policy treats as needing cheaper credit: units in the border and Kandi belts, and women- and SC-owned enterprises. On a term loan of around INR 1 crore this is close to the full annual cap.
