About this subsidy
The "Additional Incentive on Generation of Employment" is a sub-scheme operating under the broader "The West Bengal Incentive Scheme 2021." Launched by the Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal, on February 22nd, 2021, the scheme aims to bolster the state's tourism sector and foster self-employment by supporting new and expanding businesses. Its primary objective is to provide financial assistance to intending or prospective entrepreneurs, enabling them to establish businesses, become employers, and significantly contribute to employment generation within the state.
Specifically, this sub-scheme entitles eligible units to an additional incentive by covering a percentage of their contributions towards the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) and Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) Schemes. This crucial support reduces the operational costs associated with hiring and retaining employees, thereby encouraging businesses to expand their workforce. The overarching goal is to create a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem where self-employed youth can thrive and evolve into significant job creators. The scheme is designed to remain valid until December 31st, 2025, offering a sustained period of support for the tourism industry in West Bengal.
