The Data Analytics Hackathon, organised by Gradient Learnings, is a build-and-analysis-focused competition designed for students, aspiring analysts, data professionals, and problem-solvers who want
to turn raw data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations. Rather than a traditional build-a-product hackathon, this event centres on end-to-end analytics: participants receive a real-world dataset from the organisers and must work through the full analytical pipeline to surface the story behind the numbers. Who Should Apply The hackathon is open to individuals and teams, with a recommended maximum team size of 2 members; solo participation is fully permitted. Both beginners and experienced analysts are encouraged to take part, making it accessible to students building a portfolio as well as working professionals sharpening their analytics skills. What You'll Do Participants work with a real-world dataset provided by the organisers and perform an end-to-end data analysis by understanding the business problem and dataset, cleaning, transforming, and preparing the data, exploring patterns, trends, and relationships, performing quantitative and statistical analysis, building meaningful visualisations and dashboards, identifying key insights and actionable recommendations, and finally presenting their analysis and findings. The challenge is centred on using data to solve real-world problems by turning raw datasets into clear insights and data-driven decisions. Tools & Format Participants may use Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and other analytics tools. The event runs online, with the core working session scheduled on 27th September from 11 AM to 12 PM IST, and the overall competition window spanning 12th September to 27th September 2026. Submission Requirements Every team must perform the analysis using the dataset provided during the event, clearly document the analysis process and methodology, explain the problem statement, approach, findings, and recommendations, and submit a complete and functional analysis with supporting visualisations. The submission checklist includes a final analysis report or presentation, a dashboard and/or data visualisations, source code or notebook where applicable, a brief explanation of the methodology and key findings, and key insights with actionable recommendations. Rules & Judging Criteria Participants must use the dataset provided by the organisers; pre-built analyses or previously completed projects are not permitted. External tools, libraries, and publicly available resources may be used. Any form of plagiarism or unauthorised copying will result in disqualification, and participants must disclose the use of AI tools in their analysis or submission. All submissions must be completed before the official deadline. Projects are assessed on data cleaning and preparation, analytical approach and problem-solving, quality and accuracy of insights, data visualisation and storytelling, depth of analysis, business relevance and actionable recommendations, and overall presentation and completeness. Prizes The winner receives ₹5,000, the 1st Runner-Up ₹3,000, and the 2nd Runner-Up ₹1,500. A separate kind prize worth ₹50,000 is also on offer, bringing the total prize pool to ₹59,500.
