Robo Soccer 1v1 | RoboVisionär '26

Robo Soccer 1v1 is a competitive robotics event held as part of RoboVisionär '26, the annual techno-cultural fest of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. Scheduled for 24 and 25 September 2026, this event invites student teams from across India to build and battle it out in a high-octane 1v1 soccer match using custom-built robots.

Who It's For:

• School, college, and university students across India
• Robotics enthusiasts, hobbyists, and competitive builders
• Teams of 1 to 3 members (extra members can be added at ₹250 each)

What to Expect:

• Tournament Format: Three rounds of knockout play, with pairings decided by random chit draw. Round 1 features all registered teams, Round 2 narrows down to winners, and the Finals determine the champion and runner-up.
• Match Rules: Each match is 1v1, with two halves of 3 minutes each and a short break. The timer stops after every goal, and the ball returns to the centre. If the ball leaves the arena, play resumes from the centre. Robots must not enter the goalpost; doing so results in a foul and penalty. Wireless robots must not pull the wire of a wired robot (immediate disqualification). Technical glitches allow 2 minutes of servicing time.
• Robot Specifications: Robots must not exceed 30 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm in dimensions and 5 kg in weight (batteries on the bot count toward weight). Voltage must not exceed 16.8V DC at any point. A 5% tolerance is allowed on dimensions and weight. Wired, wireless, and autonomous robots are all permitted. Robo-wars style weaponry, structures that hold or trap the ball, and fans of any kind are prohibited.
• Inspection: Robots must be inspected at the designated counter at least 1 hour before the event begins. Missing inspection means you cannot compete. Any modification after inspection leads to disqualification, though limited time is given for on-site adjustments and re-verification.
• Field and Ball: A standard field hockey ball is used, chosen for durability and accurate control. Depending on the round, the field may include dynamic obstacles that test the robot's agility and the controller's adaptability.
• Team Rules: Only 2 members may stay around the arena—one controlling and one assisting. Controllers stay in their own team's area and cannot be swapped mid-match, though a different controller may be used for a different match provided they are on the same team.

Prizes:

• Total prize pool of ₹50,000
• Trophies for 1st and 2nd positions
• E-certificates for all participants
• Hardcopy certificates and trophies for winners

Registration Details:

• Entry fee: ₹900 for the first phase of registered teams (increases after that)
• Registration deadline: 19 September 2026
• Payment via UPI; submit the 12-digit UTR to receive a reference ID immediately
• Registration and payment are handled on the official event website; Unstop applications alone do not confirm a slot
• Lunch and refreshments are provided for all registered participants; accommodation is not provided
