About this Opportunity

The India-Canada Collaborative Industrial R&D Programme is a Request for Proposal (RFP) for joint projects between Indian and Canadian companies, research and development (R&D) organizations, and academic institutions. The program aims to support innovative, market-oriented R&D projects that lead to new products, processes, or services. It provides a non-dilutive grant of up to ₹1.5 crore or 50% of the Indian project cost (whichever is lower) for a maximum period of 24 months. The funding is a non-dilutive grant, with support provided to Indian industry on a reimbursement basis and to R&D and Academic institutions on a reimbursement/advance basis.

Eligibility

  • The Indian Project Lead (IPL) must be a commercial (for-profit) company registered under the Indian Companies Act 1956/2013, which is headquartered and operates in India.
  • At least 51% ownership of the IPL must be held by Indian citizens.
  • The IPL should have the required expertise and team capacity.
  • Sole proprietors, One Person Company (OPC) and partnership firms are not eligible.
  • Companies headquartered and owned outside India, or their Indian subsidiaries, are not eligible for funding from DST.
  • The IPL should lead the project and can include other industry partners or academic/R&D institutions as part of a consortium.
