About this subsidy
The Jammu & Kashmir Film Policy 2021 funds documentary films that shoot at least 50% of their total shooting days in the UT, with the slab set by where the film releases:
- National level release — up to ₹20 lakh, or 50% of the total Cost of Production (COP), whichever is lower
- International level release — up to ₹40 lakh, or 25% of COP, whichever is lower
Note the trade-off built into the two slabs: the national slab carries the higher percentage (50%) against a lower ceiling, while the international slab doubles the ceiling but halves the percentage. Which is better depends entirely on your budget.
