About this subsidy
The J&K Poultry Policy 2020 supports the capital cost of setting up or scaling a commercial poultry operation.
Commercial layer and broiler farms with a rearing capacity of more than 10,000 birds per unit receive a capital investment incentive for access to credit at 30% of the investment in plant and machinery, with an upper limit of Rs 50 lakh.
That covers a meaningful share of the equipment a modern farm needs — automated feeding lines, cages and battery systems, climate control, egg handling. The 10,000-bird threshold means the incentive is aimed at commercially scaled units rather than backyard flocks.

A capital investment incentive at 30% of the investment in plant and machinery, with an upper limit of Rs 50 lakh, provided for access to credit. It is available to commercial layer and broiler farms with rearing capacity above 10,000 birds per unit, so the equipment spend of a commercially scaled farm — feeding, caging, climate and handling systems — is what the 30% is computed on.
