About this subsidy
The J&K Poultry Policy 2020 removes the cost of insuring a poultry unit's fixed assets.
All eligible new units, and existing units on their substantial expansion above 10,000 birds anywhere in J&K, get reimbursement of 100% of the insurance premium on insurance of building and plant and machinery. The reimbursement runs for a maximum of 5 years from the date of commencement of commercial production and operations.
Asset insurance is not optional for a financed poultry farm — lenders require it — so this is effectively a five-year removal of a mandatory operating cost. Note the cover reimbursed is on buildings and equipment; the policy clause does not extend it to bird stock.
