About this subsidy
The Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Policy – 2020 reimburses tourism units for the cost of training their staff. The unit gets back an amount equal to 50% of the actual cost of training, with an upper limit of Rs 10,000 per trainee, subject to a maximum of Rs 50,000 per unit for one training programme in a single year. The scheme is capped at an upper ceiling of 20 units per year, so the benefit is rationed across applicants.
To qualify, the unit must give an undertaking to employ the trained workers for at least 3 years, and those workers must be trained at institutes recognised by the Department of Tourism. The design ties the subsidy to retained employment rather than to training throughput alone.
Because only one training programme per unit per year is supported and only 20 units are covered annually, applying early in the year matters.
