About this competition
The AI Hackathon — Leveraging Emerging Technologies for Smarter Farming Systems is a national innovation challenge organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare (MoAFW), Government of India. The program invites teams to build AI and data-driven solutions on top of government agricultural datasets, with the goal of scaling the winning solutions in collaboration with MoAFW.
The hackathon is structured around five focus areas: crop patterns analysis using soil and geospatial data, multi-scheme dataset integration for beneficiary identification, seed availability and planning systems, pest risk monitoring and AI-based crop protection, and personalized agriculture services delivered via AgriStack.
The format is hybrid. Online screening and proposal rounds are followed by in-person final presentations (max 15 minutes — 2–3 minute demo, 10 minute presentation, 2 minute Q&A). Winners receive INR 3,00,000 each, along with certification, national-level recognition, and the opportunity to collaborate with MoAFW to pilot and scale their solution.
Registrations opened 17 February 2026 and close 20 April 2026 at 11:59 PM. Eligible teams are notified ~35 days after the close, proposals are due ~60 days after, finalists are announced ~75 days after, solution showcase submissions are due ~90 days after, and final presentations are held around day 105.
