About this subsidy
This National Livestock Mission component backs entrepreneurs conserving and breeding India's indigenous equines and camels. The Centre pays a one-time 50% capital subsidy on the total project cost, up to Rs. 50 lakh per unit.
The ceiling is set per unit type: Rs. 50 lakh for a horse unit of 10 mares/broodmares plus 2 stallions, Rs. 50 lakh for a donkey unit of 50 females plus 5 males, and for camels Rs. 3 lakh for a 10 female + 1 male pastoral unit, Rs. 5 lakh for a 10 female + 1 male unit, Rs. 25 lakh for 50 females + 5 males and Rs. 50 lakh for 100 females + 10 males.
Individuals, SHGs, FPOs, Farmer Cooperatives, JLGs and Section 8 companies apply on the NLM portal; the remaining project cost comes from own contribution and bank finance.
