About this subsidy
The National Livestock Mission's piggery entrepreneurship component funds half the capital cost of a new pig breeding farm, with a one-time subsidy capped at Rs. 30 lakh per unit.
The ceiling scales with herd size: Rs. 15 lakh for a unit of 50 sows plus 5 boars, and Rs. 30 lakh for 100 sows plus 10 boars. Individuals, Self Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organisations, Farmer Cooperatives, Joint Liability Groups and Section 8 companies are all eligible to apply.
The subsidy covers up to 50% of project cost; the balance is met from own contribution and bank finance. Proposals are filed on the NLM portal and appraised by the State Implementing Agency before central sanction.
