About this subsidy
Under the National Livestock Mission's entrepreneurship development component, the Centre funds half the project cost of a new poultry unit — parent farm, hatchery and brooder-cum-mother unit style operations — with a one-time capital subsidy capped at Rs. 25 lakh per unit.
The subsidy is open to individuals, Self Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organisations, Farmer Cooperatives, Joint Liability Groups and Section 8 companies, which makes it one of the few central schemes where a first-time livestock entrepreneur and a formal producer company apply through the same window. You bring the remaining project cost, typically through own contribution plus a bank term loan, and the subsidy is released against the approved project.
Applications are filed on the NLM portal hosted by Udyami Mitra, where the project proposal is appraised by the State Implementing Agency before it goes to the central approval committee.
