About this subsidy
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Department of Fisheries funds input costs for the initial crop in newly constructed brackish-water ponds and tanks (item 1.9 of the scheme's activity list).
The benchmarked unit cost is ₹6.00 lakh per hectare, covering seed, feed and other production inputs. Government assistance is ₹2.40 lakh per hectare for a general beneficiary and ₹3.60 lakh per hectare for an SC/ST/Women beneficiary. It is a one-time support for the first crop only, normally claimed together with the pond-construction activity.
Proposals go to the State/UT Fisheries Department.
