About this subsidy
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Department of Fisheries supports the establishment of new freshwater finfish hatcheries as a beneficiary-oriented activity (item 1.1 of the scheme's activity list).
The unit cost benchmarked for one hatchery is ₹25.00 lakh. Government assistance covers ₹10.00 lakh for a general beneficiary and ₹15.00 lakh for an SC/ST/Women beneficiary; the balance is the promoter's own contribution, typically met from own funds or bank finance.
Proposals are submitted through the State/UT Fisheries Department, which appraises them and forwards them for sanction under the state's Annual Action Plan.
