About this subsidy
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Department of Fisheries supports establishment of small marine finfish hatcheries (item 2.1 of the scheme's mariculture activity list) — the seed supply that open-sea cage and coastal grow-out farming depends on.
The benchmarked unit cost is ₹50.00 lakh per hatchery. Government assistance is ₹20.00 lakh for a general beneficiary and ₹30.00 lakh for an SC/ST/Women beneficiary, with the balance met by the promoter.
Proposals are made through the State/UT Fisheries Department and sanctioned within the state's Annual Action Plan.
