Selection Process
The selection process for the Micro Finance Scheme involves multiple layers of assessment to ensure that the credit reaches the intended beneficiaries and is utilized effectively for income-generating activities. Applications submitted through State Channelizing Agencies (SCAs) or Banking Partners are first screened for basic eligibility, including the composition of the Self Help Group (SHG) or Thrift and Credit Group (TCG) and the annual family income of individual beneficiaries. The SHG's track record of thrift and credit activity for at least six months is also a critical factor. Subsequently, a detailed appraisal of the proposed income-generating activity is conducted to ascertain its feasibility and potential for income generation. Preference is often given to women SHGs and groups operating in rural and minority-concentrated areas, aligning with the scheme's core objectives of empowering vulnerable communities. Final approval and loan sanction are granted based on a comprehensive review of these factors by the implementing agencies.
